A cozy social MMO: twelve skills, Rhinorist fights, quests, cribs and parties.

MeWowWorld is the multiplayer island at /world (and the whole of MeWow.World). You walk in as your MeWow, meet everyone else who is online, train twelve skills — Fishing, Woodcutting, Mining, Foraging, Farming, Cooking, Crafting, Smithing and the four combat skills — fight the masked Rhinorists, run quests for the house MeWows, sell your haul for TIX, decorate your crib, throw parties and chat with the whole world. It runs on the same character, TIX and inventory as the rest of Wow Cool World.

STORY & LORE

The island

Twelve places float together: the Town Square with its fountain and Cue’s market stall, the Park split by a wadeable river, the Arcade Hall full of real cabinets, the Beach and its grand Sandcastle Keep, the Cozy Café, the Secret Garden behind the hedges, Sunny Acres farm west of the Square, Driftwood Docks east of the Beach, the Rhinorist camp in the Outskirts, the lantern-lit Glimmer Mines beyond it — and your own Crib, which only you can decorate.

The house MeWows

Chip, Mel and Cue keep the Square; Sunny greets newcomers in the Park; Hank renovates the Café; Petal tends the Garden; Dusty runs the farm; Jet fishes off the docks; Squatch guards the mines; Raven watches the Rhinorist camp; Cosmo lives in the Arcade Hall; Bella sunbathes on the Beach. Seven of them hand out quests — look for the ! over their heads. Blanco Bear wanders one outdoor zone each visit and hands out the ice-cream sandwich of the day if you answer his three questions (in Spanish).

The Rhinorists

A gang of horned luchadors who set up a watch-camp in the Outskirts: Recruits (lv 3), Soldiers (lv 12), Elites (lv 26) and, since version C, a Captain (lv 40) who came down from the towers. Their masks, badges, golden horns and the Captain’s medal are the loot; Raven’s quest line ends with the Rhinorist cape.

HOW IT PLAYS

Skills

Twelve skills, each from level 1 to 99: Fishing, Woodcutting, Mining, Foraging, Farming, Cooking, Crafting, Smithing, Attack, Strength, Defence and Hitpoints — laid out as a 3×4 grid like the classic. Every gather grants XP; higher levels unlock better spots (the sea at Fishing 5, deep water at 12 and lobster traps at 20; copper at Mining 5, iron at 15, gem veins at 30; pumpkins at Farming 8). Tools bought with TIX (or earned from quests) boost yield and XP by 50%.

Minigames

Walk up to a host and click it to play: the card table in the Cozy Café, the DJ booth in the Groove Club, the bait stand on Driftwood Docks and the Mine Cart Dash sign in the Glimmer Mines. The server hands out a round token, checks the round really lasted that long and that the score is possible in that time, then pays TIX (capped per game per day) and, for the Derby and the Mine Cart, skill XP. Best rounds (or total wins, for cards) go on the minigame boards.

Pets and critter traits

Pets are bought in the Shop's Pets tab and chosen in the Wardrobe with one of six colourways. A pet trails its owner, naps when they sit and hops when they emote; everyone nearby sees it. In the MeWow Studio your MeWow can have critter ears, a tail, face marks and a fur colour, and the in-world MeWow wears them too.

Getting around

Click to walk (8-direction paths, with a gold marker where you're headed) or use WASD; the mouse wheel zooms and every tab has a hotkey (press ? for the list). Hovering anything clickable highlights it and says what a click will do. Zone exits are four tiles wide and you can click anywhere on the road or bridge past the edge to head that way. Water can't be walked on, so rivers are crossed on the footbridges. Doors and edge paths only fire when you arrive on them, and you come out at the matching door or path on the other side. Town Square is the hub: its Main Street doors lead home, to the Mart, the Café and the Groove Club.

Trading, whispers and cribs

Trades are items for items (gathered, cooked, crafted and looted goods — never tools, gear, furniture or wearables). An offer lasts 24 hours; accepting settles both sides in a single database transaction. Whisper with /w name message or /r; block a player to hide them and stop their whispers, gifts and trades. Every crib has likes and a guest book.

Daily deeds

Each UTC day picks three deeds for everyone — catch fish, beat Rhinorists, play a minigame round, sell at the market, gift a friend and so on. Progress is counted from what you actually did today; claim each for TIX and claim a bonus once all three are done.

Quests

Nine quests from novice to master, RuneScape-journal style: red not started, yellow in progress, green done. Sunny’s Welcome to MeWowWorld hands you a fishing rod; Hank, Petal, Jet, Dusty and Squatch each want a hand with their corner of the island; Raven’s three-part line — The Masked Menace, Horn of the Elite, Captain’s Orders — takes you through every Rhinorist tier and ends with the Rhinorist cape. Every step is finished by talking to the NPC once the condition holds; the server checks your bag, skills and action log, so nothing can be faked. Quest points tally on your profile card.

Combat

South of the Beach lies The Outskirts, a Rhinorist watch-camp. Click a masked Recruit (lv 3), Soldier (lv 12), Elite (lv 26) or the Captain (lv 40) and your MeWow walks up and fights: hit splats, health bars and a swinging sword, RuneScape style. Pick a combat style in the Skills panel — Accurate trains Attack, Aggressive trains Strength, Defensive trains Defence — and every hit you land trains Hitpoints. The server rolls the whole fight; wins drop mask shards, badges and golden horns. Lose and you wake at the camp entrance with half your health. Food heals, and you recover one hitpoint every 20 seconds. Your best sword rides on your back between fights, your best armor shows as a shield during them, and every hit you take flashes red.

Gear

A Wooden Sword is sold in the Shop for 200 TIX. Crafted gear at your crib: Plank Shield (crafting 4), Stone Sword (7), Stone Vest (12), Coral Blade (18). Smithed gear at the Glimmer Mines forge: Copper Sword (smithing 4), Copper Plate (7), Iron Sword (14), Iron Plate (18) and the Glimmer Blade (28, needs two gems and a golden horn). Your best owned weapon and armor count automatically.

Gathering

Click a glowing spot — bobbers on the water, berries on a bush, sparkles on a rock, leaves drifting from a tree. Your MeWow walks over, works for a couple of seconds, and the server decides the haul. Each spot has a short cooldown per player. Wild mushroom patches sometimes turn up a magic mushroom as well: eat it from the Bag for a minute of something silly — teeny, huge, floating, upside-down, rainbow, zippy, glowing or giggling — and everyone around you sees it too.

Cooking, crafting & smithing

Stand by any campfire or the Café stove to cook (Grilled Fish at level 1 up to Lobster Bisque at 24; farm bread and pies in between). Crafting happens at your crib: planks and stone blocks first, then furniture and wooden gear. Smithing happens at the forge in the Glimmer Mines: smelt copper and iron bars, then hammer out metal gear.

TIX

One currency. Earn it in the arcade cabinets, the daily bonus, quest rewards, and by selling goods at any market stall (Square, Farm, Docks — up to 400 TIX a day). Spend it on furniture, tools, weapons, capes and wearables in the Shop — the same items appear in the site’s Prize Shop and your inventory.

Cribs & parties

Edit your crib with everything you own (starter furniture is free). Beyond the classic pieces, six MeWowWorld furniture makers sell 49 hand-drawn pieces in the Shop: Hearthwood & Sons (cosy woodshop), Kilowatt & Comet (retro neon), Bramblebee Garden Co., Maison Velourine (luxe velvet), Boxlot (flatpack) and Grimsby & Gloam Curiosities (spooky). Lamps, fires and screens switch on and off, sofas and beds can be sat on or napped in, and jukeboxes play. Set who may visit, then throw a party for 30, 60 or 120 minutes: your room opens to everyone, it shows on the party board, and the disco lights come on.

Chat & emotes

Chat tabs for Here (your zone or crib), World (everyone online) and Whispers. Level milestones — 10, 20 … 99 — and finished quests are announced in World chat. Speech bubbles over heads, thirteen emotes that pull faces and poses, and benches, chairs, sofas, thrones and a seesaw you can actually use: sitters face the way the seat faces, and two MeWows on the seesaw rock it up and down. Toss a coin in the Square fountain for a fortune, and the Groove Club floor gets you dancing if you stand still on it.

Friends, gifts & hiscores

Click any MeWow for their player card: a turning portrait, skills, combat level, quest points and gear, with Add friend, Whisper, Trade, Gift, Visit crib and Wave. Friend requests show up in the Friends tab with Accept and Decline (and asking someone who already asked you makes you friends straight away). The Friends tab shows where each friend is and what they're playing, with a Join button that takes you to their zone or crib. Gifts are gathered, cooked, crafted and looted goods (never tools, gear or furniture). The Hiscores board ranks the top 25 overall and per skill.

VERSION HISTORY

VERSION G2026-09-23
  • A new look for the whole screen: a status panel top-left (zone, HP, level, TIX, minimap), a dock of big labelled buttons along the bottom, windows that take the right side so you can still see yourself, and 81 original pixel icons in place of emoji. Text is bigger everywhere.
  • Player cards turn your MeWow slowly in a portrait and put Add friend / Accept, Whisper, Trade, Gift, Visit crib and Wave in one row. The wardrobe only shows what you own.
  • Friend requests can be accepted and declined from the Friends tab (they used to get stuck). Friends show where they are and what they're playing, with a Join button.
  • Here chat, moving and expressions now reach everyone straight away — the realtime connection now signs in before it joins a zone, which was the cause of people standing still or not showing up.
  • Sitting is fixed: you face the way the seat faces and backrests hide you properly. The seesaw rocks when two MeWows ride it.
  • Zone exits are wide and you can click the road or bridge past the edge; water blocks walking, so rivers are crossed on the bridges. Tall roofs are no longer cut off at the top of the screen.
  • Every zone was laid out again so places make sense: benches face the fountain, the café has a kitchen line, the farm has fenced fields, the docks pier runs out to a T-head, the Rhinorist camp has a palisade, and more.
  • Trees, bushes and flowers are drawn fresh for each spot, so no two look alike, and trees grow a little over the weeks.
  • New ground, water, walls and sky: grass with clover and flowers, flagstones and cobbles, plank floors with grain, waterfalls off the island edge, and a painted sky with hills and stars. The fountain, fires, lampposts, pond and fish tank are animated.
  • 49 new furniture pieces from six MeWowWorld makers in the Shop (see Cribs & parties).
  • Magic mushrooms: wild mushroom patches can drop one of eight, each with a one-minute effect everyone can see.
  • Toss a coin in the Square fountain for a fortune; the Groove Club floor gets you dancing.
  • Mouse-wheel zoom and hotkeys for every tab (press ? to see them).
  • Quest progress now counts from when you accept the quest, hand-ins are all-or-nothing, and double-clicks no longer break a start.
  • A fix for the floor disappearing in Chrome on some Macs: the ground is redrawn if the graphics card drops it.
  • Staff tools: an admin area with a quest builder, an economy dashboard and a zone editor, plus an Edit zone button in the game for staff.
VERSION F2026-09-23
  • Trading: click a player → 🤝 Trade to offer goods for goods. They have 24 hours to accept, and the swap settles in one step — both sides move or nothing does. A 🤝 Trades tab lists offers in and out.
  • Whispers: /w name message, /r to reply, or 💌 Whisper on a player card; a 💌 Whispers chat tab keeps them together. Whispers travel on your own private channel and aren't stored.
  • Block and report: blocking hides a player's chat and stops their whispers, gifts and trades; ⚑ on any chat line (or Report on a player card) files a report for the moderators.
  • Cribs get likes and a guest book: visitors can ❤️ your crib and sign the book (3 notes a day), and you can tidy it.
  • Daily deeds: three small goals a day at the top of the quest journal (the same three for everyone), each worth TIX, plus a bonus for all three.
  • Quest steps now count what you did after the step began (a sale before the craft step no longer finishes the sell step).
  • Wardrobe extras are checked against your inventory however they're saved, and gifts now arrive on your private channel.
VERSION E2026-09-23
  • Town Square rebuilt as the island hub: a Main Street of named buildings you can walk into (Your Crib, MeWow Mart, Cozy Café, Groove Club), a fountain plaza, the Market stall and signposts to everywhere else.
  • New place: the Groove Club — lights down, a light-up dance floor, sweeping spotlights and the DJ booth.
  • Four native minigames, each with its own board and a daily TIX cap: MeWow Cards (Café card table), Groove Club Dance-Off (DJ booth), Fishing Derby (Docks bait stand, trains Fishing) and Mine Cart Dash (Glimmer Mines, trains Mining). A new 🎲 Games tab lists them.
  • Pets: twelve companions (duckling to baby dragon) in six colours each, sold in the Shop and picked in the Wardrobe; they follow you, nap when you sit and bounce when you emote.
  • Critter MeWows: the Studio adds ears, tails, face marks and fur colour, and they show on your in-world MeWow too.
  • Moving around: 8-direction pathing, a destination marker, walk-then-sit on seats (one MeWow per seat tile), doors only trigger when you arrive on them, hover tooltips and highlights on everything clickable, gather progress bars and node cooldowns.
  • The world is full-screen with its own chrome; chat is a translucent overlay with an emote popover; Escape closes panels. House MeWows walk real paths and take breaks on benches.
  • MeWowWorld site pages: Guide (generated from the game data), Hiscores (skills + minigames), public player cards and the Studio, all under the world nav — ready for the MeWow.World domain.
  • Server hardening: atomic item moves, race-proof cooldowns, sell caps and quest rewards, honest friend requests, private realtime topics (only the server can send chat), crib chat limited to people who can see the crib, and a hitpoints level-up fix.
VERSION D2026-09-20
  • Sitting fixed: the sit pose perched the hips above the knees, so a seated MeWow read as standing on the bench; the torso now settles onto the seat on every chair, bench, sofa, throne and cushion.
  • Characters get a rim light and shade pass, a soft contact shadow and a bigger default zoom on wide screens; the studio mirror uses the exact same pass.
  • The MeWow Maker was rebuilt: a lit stage with the portrait and the walking MeWow side by side, grouped Face / Hair / Outfit / Backdrop controls, colour swatches, and inked portraits.
VERSION C2026-09-16
  • Quests: nine quests with a RuneScape-style journal, ! / ? / ✓ markers over the house MeWows, an NPC dialog box, server-verified steps and rewards (tools, the flower crown, Jet’s skateboard, the Rhinorist cape).
  • Two new skills — Farming and Smithing — and three new zones: Sunny Acres (farm), Driftwood Docks (deep-water fishing) and the lantern-lit Glimmer Mines (ore veins, forge and anvil). The Rhinorist Captain (lv 40) joins the Outskirts.
  • Social MMO layer: World chat tab with level-milestone and quest announcements, hiscores (overall and per skill), gifting goods to friends, player cards with skills, combat level, quest points and gear, and an everyone-online list.
  • New shell: MeWowWorld logo and HUD, a tab rail with a docked side panel, a clickable minimap, arrival title cards, and a landing page for signed-out visitors. The time of day follows the real clock for everyone.
  • Characters: capes with trim and emblems, the best sword sheathed on the back, a shield in fights, weapon colours by tier, red hit flashes, dust puffs and level-up fireworks. New food, ore, bar and gear items.
  • Brother site: served from the MeWow.World domain the world is the whole site — same accounts, same TIX, no arcade chrome.
VERSION B
  • Combat: The Outskirts zone, three Rhinorist tiers with horned masks, server-resolved fights with hit splats, HP bars, knock-outs and loot; Attack / Strength / Defence / Hitpoints skills with combat styles.
  • RuneScape-style skills grid with XP-to-next, an HP orb in the HUD, healing food and passive regen; weapons and armor bought or crafted.
  • Characters: crisp outlines, idle breathing and blinking, five new emotes (wave, dance, laugh, sleepy, flex), fixed remote players vanishing while gathering.
  • World: falling blossom in the Park, Square and Garden; embers in the Outskirts. Profiles now show MeWowWorld skills.
VERSION A
  • MeWowWorld redux: the old iframe prototype became a TypeScript engine inside the site, with real accounts, TIX, inventory, friends and cribs wired through.
  • Six skills with XP and levels, 30+ resource spots, 14 recipes, tools, and a market stall that pays TIX.
  • Per-zone realtime, server-relayed chat with history, parties that open your crib to everyone, visiting friends' real cribs.
  • Arcade cabinets now run the real games with scores and TIX; fullscreen, zoom, touch controls and a proper HUD.
