Gangly Games (sports game, 2026) — Four legs, one neck, zero practice. It's Sports Day on the savanna.
Gangly Games is a clumsy-limb racing game about Gigi, a giraffe who is two days old and has entered every event at the Savanna Sports Day. You don't steer her, you work her legs. A/S scissor the front pair, K/L scissor the back pair, and Space ducks her neck. Getting both pairs to gallop together, keeping the long neck out of the branches and not nose-diving down a hill is the whole game. There are eight medal events with bronze, silver and gold times on three difficulties, a race against Wendell the warthog, and the endless Wild Run for the leaderboard. (Build A, game version 0.8.)[citation needed]
Once a year the savanna's young ones race in front of the whole herd: meerkats in the stands, a ribbon at the finish, and leaves to snack on along the way. Gigi was born on Tuesday. She found out about her legs on Wednesday. Sports Day is Thursday.
Wendell the warthog has won the Warthog Derby every year since there was a Warthog Derby. He has short legs, a low centre of gravity and absolutely no sympathy for giraffes.
GigiHeroLong legs, longer neck, very little idea how either works. Her legs tremble a little all the time (more on Hard), and a newborn's instinct helps her stay upright: a lot on Easy, some on Normal, hardly any on Hard.
WendellVillainRuns the Warthog Derby at a steady trot of about 2 m/s and never trips. Beat him to the line for the Hog Wash achievement. If he wins, the best you can get is bronze.
Each key pair scissors one pair of legs: A swings the near front leg forward and the far one back, S does the opposite, and the same goes for K and L at the back. A leg swinging forward folds its knee and lifts its hoof. A leg swinging back stays straight and pushes against the ground. Hold both keys of a pair to plant those legs straight under you; let go and they drift back to standing. Speed comes from a rhythm where the back pair is about a quarter-beat behind the front.
Hold Space (or the NECK button) to swing the neck down and forward. That gets Gigi under low acacia branches, where a bonk knocks her back and spins her, and lets her nibble the low bushes. Let go and the head comes back up for the high leaves. The head is heavy, so the neck moves her balance too.
Every leaf Gigi eats takes 0.5 s off her final time. Medals are judged on the final time, so a detour for a leaf can be worth it.
If her body or head hits the ground, or she tips past about 70°, Gigi tumbles. After a moment she gets back up at the last checkpoint flag she passed. Flags are about every 10 m and always on flat, clear ground. The clock keeps running. Belly-sliding over a mound doesn't count as a tumble.
Termite mounds and fallen logs trip the hooves. Mud is slippery: hooves slide instead of pushing. Climbs need power, and descents pitch her nose-down, so slow your rhythm going downhill.
An endless savanna that gets harder as you go. Mounds get taller, gaps get shorter, logs show up more often and the hills get steeper. You have three tumbles, and each one puts you back on your feet where you fell. Your score is the furthest distance you reached.
Easy, Normal and Hard change how much Gigi's balance instinct helps her (85% / 60% / 32%) and how much her legs tremble. Medal times are the same on all three. A gold on Hard earns Hard Hooves.
Cosmetic only. Buy them in the quick shop on the game page with TIX; the game picks up the equipped coat straight away (equipKey gg_coat).

Medal times are final times (clock minus 0.5 s per leaf), the same on every difficulty. In the Warthog Derby you also have to beat Wendell to get more than bronze.
