Daily Brains: no GPS, just the stars, so work out where your ship is the way navigators did. Every day a real night at sea somewhere in the world, under the real sky for that place and moment: the Milky Way, the Moon if it is up, a yacht's foredeck rising on the swell. With a sextant (bring a star down to the horizon and read the arc), a chronometer and the night's almanac card, find your latitude from the height of Polaris, or of the south pole you find with the Southern Cross and its Pointers, and your longitude from the time a star crosses your meridian against the time it crosses Greenwich, 15 degrees an hour. Then plot your fix on the world chart and see how close you came. Monday is Polaris with every star named; by Sunday there are no names and a cloud bank on the horizon. A celestial-navigation puzzle in the tradition of the sextant and the Nautical Almanac, with streaks and a spoiler-free share line.
